Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia – Rome Conducted by Sir Antonio Pappano With Beatrice Rana (piano)
Two spectacular evenings with an eminent orchestra helmed by one of Europe’s most dynamic conductors. Founded in 1585, The Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia is one of the oldest musical institutions in the world; for Abu Dhabi Festival audiences, the orchestra will be conducted by Sir Antonio Pappano, Music Director of the Royal Opera House, London, and joined by pianist Beatrice Rana and violinist Kyung Wha Chung.
During night one, witness the acclaimed genius and nuance of prodigious 22-year old pianist Beatrice Rana performing Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1 – the composer’s favourite of his own piano works and one of the best known and beloved by audiences internationally. The evening will also cross continents with Aida Sinfonia, Verdi’s dramatic symphonic poem set in Egypt, before returning to the orchestra’s home with Respighi’s ‘Fountains of Rome’ and ‘Pines of Rome’ – pieces written especially for the orchestra.
