PINK MARTINI – LIVE IN ABU DHABI
Date Wednesday 21 March at 8pm
Venue Emirates Palace Auditorium
Known affectionately as ‘the little orchestra’, Pink Martini are an global music adventure. Founded in 1994 to revolutionise the lacklustre ambience of political parties and fundraisers, the band cross classical, jazz and old-fashioned pop genres, performing music from all over the world. Since then, the rotating cast of musicians and their multilingual repertoire have refreshed the most glamorous international stages – from Cannes Film Festival and the re-opening party of the Museum of Modern Art to four sold-out concerts at Carnegie Hall, the Academy Awards and the Sydney Opera House. The dynamic, beloved band have shared the stage with more than 50 of the world’s most prestigious symphony orchestras and have collaborated with acclaimed artists from Rufus Wainwright and Chavela Vargas to Gus van Sant. Bringing their warm charm and enchanting glamour to Abu Dhabi, lead singer China Forbes will be joined by guest stars Ari Shapiro, host of NPR’s All Things Considered, designer Ikram Goldman and Timothy Nishimoto.
